MEET EMILIA
Emilia Molloy is a contemporary Australian artist whose work explores colour, landscape and emotional connection. Working primarily with acrylics, Emilia creates original pieces that invite viewers to form their own interpretations and connections. Each painting is a unique exploration of movement, memory and atmosphere.
BIOGRAPHY
I am a self-taught multidisciplinary artist with formal qualifications in architecture and construction. My creative practice spans visual art, photography, and digital media, drawing inspiration from nature, light, memory, and the emotional experiences that shape our lives.
At the age of six, I lost the vision in one eye following a serious accident. The years that followed were marked by medical treatments, surgeries and trauma, but art became a source of comfort, resilience and healing. Through drawing and creative expression, I found solace, joy, and a way to make sense of the world around me.
Over the past three decades, I have balanced family life abroad with a diverse creative career, including interior design, founding a handmade children's clothing label, and building a consultancy business with my partner. Throughout these experiences, creativity has remained a constant thread, shaping both my professional and artistic journey.
The recent loss of my mother, my greatest source of strength, brought me back to art in a profound way. Through grief, I rediscovered the peace, reflection, and healing that creative practice provides. At the same time, the knowledge that the vision in my remaining eye may deteriorate with age has given me a renewed sense of purpose—to create, explore, and make the most of the time and sight I have.
My work is also influenced by the study of Feng Shui, which has deepened my understanding of the relationship between art, energy, and human wellbeing. I am fascinated by how art can shape the feeling of a space and create harmony, connection, and emotional resonance.
Now in my fifties, I create with a heightened appreciation for light, perspective, and the beauty found in everyday moments. Through my work, I seek to transform adversity into beauty and connection, while leaving behind a body of work that reflects resilience, healing, and the precious gift of seeing the world through my own unique perspective.
